that's a really usefull tool. i enjoy it very much.
only way i can think of to improve it further would be to display a performance curve and add an easy-to-use way to compare multiple setups (and their curves)
Do you have contact with CovertJaguar? If you do please can you ask him if he could make steam and creosote oil compatible with Mekanism pipes and tubes? Thanks.(I really appreciate your website, really helped with my ship design)
Doesn't work well on mobile or smaller monitors, as the sidebars overlap the center. Maybe specify a minimum width, as scrolling left/right would be better than overlapping.
Super minor spelling error but when you do a heatup simulation for a boiler it says "...keep the boiler from loosing heat.", the "loosing" should be "losing". :)
Got a question about the amount of fuel I need. v6.17.0.0 fuellist. Got 3x3x3 HP boiler running on Biofuel. In heatup mode it says it needs 17.49 buckets to heat up (ridiculous) from 20 starting heat. In Fuel sim mode if I input 500 buckets of biofuel it says, it needs 254.97 buckets for heat up.
So, what's up?
Thank you for your answer!
for charcoal / creosote calculations, is there the possibility to add how many coke ovens would be required to maintain the boiler for an indefinite cycle?
This calculator shows that the LP boiler is more efficient than the HP boiler is. Both at max temperatures, with 1 coal, LP produces a total of 35556mB while HP produces a total of 27826mB. Is this right?
Ladderff here, I corresponded with you on this thread: http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/the-final-word-on-steam-boiler-efficiency.13506/page-13
I am trying to nerf heat values for forestry fuel (peat is more than coal, eg!) I tried googling this but can't figure out how to do it in the config. I even clicked your git link but am not sure what to do with those files. Any advice? Thanks,
When using hydrogen as a fuel in Time Simulation, I simulated for 2 days,. If I changed the tank size to a large tank, it uses less fuel. It also doesn't match what Fuel Simulation mode calculates.
In the Heatup Only Mode for v7.3.0.0 the calculator claims I will use 10.75 blocks of coal coke to heat up a cold boiler, but in the fuel simulation mode it shows an entire stack of coal coke blocks only lasting about an hour in the heatup phase before it runs out of fuel. I am fairly certain one of the calculations is off, and I think it's the heatup mode.
This calculator will tell you how much fuel of a certain type is needed to heat up a cold boiler to it's maximum temperature (Heatup Only), or tell you how long it will run with the given fuel (Fuel Simulation) or finally tell you how much fuel is required to keep the boiler running a set time (Time Simulation).
A few noteworthy things:
This calculator was written by Forecaster for the Minecraft mod Railcraft by CovertJaguar, based on formulas provided by the author.
The formula for calculating fuel usage can be found on the Railcraft Wiki.
Times are directly converted from ticks, this unless your server/client always run at peak tickrate (unlikely) times will vary slightly.
Fules values are kept up to date with the latest public Railcraft release. (Fuels from other mods are kept up to date as best I can.)
If you have a question, an issue or a feature suggestion (such as a specific fuel) you can post a comment and I will reply!

Tried in Chrome and IE with same results.
